Local R14-8 Stands in Solidarity with Frito-Lay Union Members
NAGE members of Topeka, KS Local R14-8 stood shoulder to shoulder with the sister and brother union members of Frito-Lay, members of Local 218. Our Local NAGE members were proud to provide the Frito-Lay employees with refreshments while they held the line against unfair work practices. The Local 219 members were on strike against the company's mandatory 84 hour work week overtime policy. The company has refused to address members concerns about shifts, shifts that have taken away time with their families and even do not allow for a full nights sleep. The chief show steward of Local 218 even reported that he once had worked three months straight without a day off.The strike ended on July 23rd after 19 days. Over 220 members coted on a new two-year contract that guarantees at least one day off per week, eliminates mandatory shifts and a 4% wage increase for all job classifications.
Congradualtions to the members of Lcoal 218 for holding the line until your needs were addressed by the companny!
